Combining creativity with practical skills…
As Landscape Foreman, Nick Kendrick is involved in all aspects of Southern Landmarx’s projects. But it is his flair for the art of stonemasonry that makes Nick such an asset to the team. Part of the Southern Landmarx family since 2014, Nick’s certification in Stonemasonry means he is the go-to man for the company’s uniquely Central Otago stone work projects.
It was the lure of winter snow that brought self-confessed outdoors junkie Nick Kendrick from Worcestershire, UK to New Zealand in 2000. With his love of all things outdoors and a broad set of skills in landscaping and construction, Nick is now right at home in Central Otago as part of the Southern Landmarx team.
The former West Midlands native has embraced a career in landscaping since arriving in New Zealand, with the company’s stonework projects being the area that Nick finds most rewarding.
“I enjoy the way that working with stone lets you be creative. You’re able to put your own unique seal on it. And everyone loves it.”
After completing a Certificate in Stonemasonry at Otago Polytechnic in 2010, Nick worked with a busy Queenstown based landscape company to hone his skills in stonemasonry and construction landscaping.
Now highly experienced in all aspects of landscape construction, Nick brings both creative and practical skills to the company’s projects, whether it’s paving, timber work or creating garden features. As Landscape Foreman, Nick is hands-on, helping turn landscape design into reality.
Nick still makes sure he takes time to enjoy the outdoors, except these days it’s with his wife Claire and young son Finn. Nick says it‘s the family-friendly culture of Southern Landmarx that makes it easy to enjoy the best of both worlds.
